Things to do in the Eastern Townships: Activity Ideas Suggested by Our Team
Who better to recommend the best places to visit in our beautiful region than our own staff? We surveyed a few employees at the Espace 4 Saisons resort, and they were more than happy to share some hidden gems to add to your future itinerary in the Eastern Townships!
Anaïs, front desk agent
Favourite spot: Verger Ferland in Compton

A beautiful orchard where you can easily spend the whole day, there are so many activities to enjoy at Verger Ferland: pick-your-own seasonal fruit, tractor rides, cider and must tastings…
In August, September, and October, you can go pick plums, pears, and apples. Anaïs has a soft spot for the “Beauté Flamande” (Flemish Beauty) pear, an heirloom variety that’s very popular in Quebec for its large, juicy, sweet fruit and its melt-in-your-mouth flesh.
Before heading there, Anaïs likes to stop by Les Moulins La Fayette in Magog to grab a coffee and a pastry for the road. Yum!
Patrick, housekeeping attendant
Favourite spot: Club de golf du lac Mégantic in Frontenac

Patrick, a big golf fan, is having a hard time choosing his favourite course in the area, since there are several that are really beautiful.
However, he currently set his sights on the one in Lac-Mégantic, an 18-hole golf course that has been in operation since 1965 and is located in the heart of the “Route des Sommets”, which offers breathtaking views of the surrounding natural landscape.
His advice? Go in the fall, when the colours are at their peak and the weather is at its most pleasant!
Suzanne, waitress at Bistro 4 Saisons
Favourite spot: the hiking trails at Mount Pinacle in Coaticook

Harold F. Baldwin Park, home to Mount Pinacle, offers five trails of varying difficulty levels that allow visitors to enjoy the extraordinary view of the surrounding area. At 194 meters above Lake Lyster, the panorama couldn’t be more enchanting!
To round out her day (and to treat herself, as she would also tell you to do!), Suzanne always takes advantage of her trip to Coaticook to enjoy some ice cream at the famous Laiterie Coaticook and do a little shopping at the La Station fine cheese markers in Compton.
Marie-Claude, manager at Burger Pub
Favourite spot: Saint-Benoît-du-Lac Abbey in Saint-Benoît-du-Lac

An enchanting, peaceful place where you can stop by to recharge, learn more about monastic life, and enjoy some culinary delights. Did you know that the monks make artisanal cheeses, compotes, ciders, and spreads? This hands-on work is part of their way of life and their history. In fact, purchases at the gift shop help support the site.
Marie-Claude loves to visit in the fall to pick apples and pears in its magnificent orchard. She can never get tired of the view, with Lake Memphremagog in the background of the abbey, which remains just as impressive year after year. She never leaves without stocking up on delicious cheeses and chocolate, of course!
Cassiane, communications and marketing intern
Favourite spot: Mokaccino Céramique in Magog

A charming coffee shop where you leave with a piece of pottery—which you’ll need to come back and pick up a few days after it’s made, so be sure to factor that into your plans! Choose a blank piece of pottery of your choice (cup, plate, vase, bowl, etc.) and paint it however you like. Once you’re done, Mokaccino will take care of the glazing and firing.
Cassiane loves the place so much that she actually brings everyone there: her boyfriend (a great date spot!), her friends, and even her family. Every time she visits, she orders a delicious latte and a date square to enjoy during her activity.
